Small Burnet

Small Burnet is a very long lived, deep rooted perennial forb and is a great addition to many perennial blends.  Highly attractive and adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions, Small Burnet thrives in many poor growing areas where others fail.  Is often used for erosion control because of this ability.  With a deep tap root it can survive in drier climates (at least 14” rain/year) but it does not do well in moist, poorly drained soils, or areas prone to flooding after heavy rains.

Small Burnet has coarse stems, green leaves, red flowers, and grows best in Full sun but can handle some shade.  Like most long lived perennials, it grows slowly at first and is susceptible to early grazing pressure so it is not recommended that small burnet be planted alone.  Great addition to clover blends, alfalfa and especially chicory (also long lasting).

Plant 3-5 lbs/acre when seeding with a another blend.  Great addition to the Wall Hanger if you have sandy soil.
